     Briefly About Gloria Star:

Professional astrologer, author, columnist, teacher, and lecturer, Gloria Star, has been a practicing astrologer since the 1970s. Client work has been the focus of her career and her client base spans the globe. Even so, she has also found the time to write, teach, lecture and serve the greater astrological community.
Gloria has written, edited or contributed to 29 astrology books, annuals, and anthologies. During her career, she has presented over 2,500 lectures and workshops throughout the world.
She is a member of the Steering Committee and Editor of AFAN’s Newsletter and is on the Advisory Boards for AFAN, Kepler College, and NCGR where she is currently serving as its Chair, as well as being a member of the NCGR Board. 

We are delighted to welcome Gloria Star to our list of stellar astrologers who have conducted workshops for ASNT     

Our meetings begin at 1:00 pm with social time, the business meeting begins at 1:30, and our program starts immediately after the business meeting, by 2 pm. We hope to see you there.

Habits And The Moon

Recently I was reading a book about creating characters in a novel and what motivates them to step out and move in new directions, get out of their known world. One of the comments really struck me. The author said “Peopleare creatures of habit. Unless something comes along to knock them off course, they don’t change much or do anything out of the ordinary. The point of stasis provides a very strong inertia.” 

That got me to thinking about how that point of stasis might be shown in a chart. Our habit patterns. Our point of inertia where we are quite comfortable, thank you, and you are going to have to use dynamite to move us out of our little orbit. (As astrology, we know that dynamite abounds, of course, and it materializes in the form of outer planets, especially Saturn, Pluto, and Uranus!

So, of course, I go immediately to the Moon.. It rules our habits, and in Vedic astrology it also rules the mind. I look at which house it is in, the sign and the pattern of aspects. Also, very important: what planet disposits it and the condition of that planet.

It makes for some very interesting reading! You might try it on your own. It challenges me to concoct charts for characters I plan to write about. . . and I already have the face to match the personality. So let’s play with it. Read more >>
